I believe my most valuable qualification comes from the "university of life." My journey through personal change began early, and like many, I didn’t fully understand what was happening or what a typical response should be. As life progressed, I faced more complex transitions, each shaping my understanding of change. Now, I share those lessons and the growth I’ve gained with my clients, helping them see that meaningful change is not only possible but achievable.
Take the Challenge, Embrace the Change
Experience & Training
I began working within the recovery community over three decades ago. In mid-life, I returned to college and became a licensed therapist. The education was invaluable. It provided context for my journey, the obstacles and resolutions. It provided perspective for what used to baffle me. Since then, my psychotherapy practice has broadened to encompass work with depression, anxiety, personal growth, addictions, recovery, relapse prevention, and stress management.
Initially, my therapy practice was specialized to residential programs dedicated treatment of a dual diagnosis clientele. I served as the Clinical Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Executive Director for residential alcohol and drug programs. I also joined a premier residential mental health facility as the Regional Program Director where the spotlight was solely on individuals struggling with mental health issues. My fundamental goal of working with individuals to enrich their lives led me back to working exclusively in private practice.
My practice is centered on individual adults, with a focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship. As a therapist with over 20 years of experience, I take a proactive, approachable, and at times straightforward approach. Clients seek me out for my objectivity and authenticity. I prioritize creating a connection where you feel heard, valued, and free from judgment. I offer feedback based on observed patterns, and if it doesn’t resonate, we move forward together. We work as a team to identify the root of the issue and collaborate toward meaningful change.
