Experience & Training

I received my Master’s degree (M.S.) in Counseling from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in 1997.  The focus of my studies was Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling.  I have been licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT37377) since 2000.  I’ve been a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) since 1996.

I began working within the recovery community over three decades ago.  Since, my psychotherapy practice has broadened to encompass work with depression, anxiety, personal growth, addictions, recovery, relapse prevention, stress management and codependency.

My clinical experience began in 1996 at Anacapa  by the Sea (S.T.E.P.S.), where I worked with both residential and outpatient clients.  In 1999 I turned my attention to my private practice, but continued to work concurrently with residential substance abuse programs specializing in the treatment of a dual diagnosis clientele.  I accepted the position of Clinical Director at Harmony Place in 2004 and was then promoted to the position of Executive Director in 2006.  I was tasked with creating, licensing, developing and managing the residential program, Harmony Place Exclusively for Women.

In 2011, I joined the Bridges to Recovery team as the Regional Program Director.  Bridges to Recovery is a premier residential mental health facility that offered the perfect vehicle to enrich my understanding and experience working with individuals struggling with mental health issues.

I reprised my role as the Chief Operations Officer and Clinical Director at Harmony Place from 2016-2019 in order to develop and expand the clinical program.  My fundamental goal of working with individuals to enrich their lives led me back to exclusively working in private practice.

My professional life did not begin upon acquiring a master’s degree.  Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the entertainment industry on domestic and international motion picture films.  I was afforded the opportunity to meet and work with people from all walks of life, from all over the world.  My experience in entertainment, coupled with education and rich clinical and management backgrounds, is the unique blend of experience I bring to collaborate with clients to create the optimal clinical outcome.
